International Science Council Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The International Science Council (ISC) is a non-governmental organization that mobilizes global scientific expertise to address critical pressing challenges. Its Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean (RFP-LAC), established in 2021, aims at enhancing the interaction among scientific communities and with policy makers to strengthen science and address regional issues effectively. To this end it oversaw the organization of the ISC Global Knowledge Dialogue, GKD-LAC, that took place in Santiago, Chile, in April 2024. At the CILAC Forum, the RFP-LAC will present key insights from the discussions held at the GKD-LAC between researchers, policymakers, and more, covering topics like Urban Health, the 2030 Agenda, the impact of AI, Open Science, and funding challenges. We expect that the session will contribute to coordinating the efforts of the RFP-LAC with other stakeholders interested in promoting science as a key factor to advance with the UN SDGs in the region.
