About me
He is a researcher in Marine Sciences, public science communication, and ocean literacy. He promotes transdisciplinary science that is co-produced with all sectors of society throughout the entire project lifecycle. He is passionate about socially referenced science, where the publication of a scientific article is just one stage of the process, serving as a foundation for dissemination to other sectors of society. He believes that, beyond producing science, it is essential to strengthen its use by other sectors of society. His work is particularly aligned with Ocean Decade projects, where he coordinates the Maré de Ciência Program at UNIFESP. In collaboration with UNESCO, he leads the Blue School Program in Brazil, acts as the Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Alliance for Ocean Literacy, and serves as President of the Global Expert Group on Ocean Literacy. He has extensive experience in international collaboration projects, with scientific publications focusing on biodiversity, climate change, and impacts on coastal zones. Additionally, he is dedicated to popularizing science and regularly shares knowledge through various media channels (TV, radio, newspapers) across Brazil.
